dc.description.abstract Abstract: The rapid spread of mobile phones means that the number of mobile users may already have exceed the number of banked people in many low income countries. Although previous studies like Sripalawat, Thongmak, and Mgramyarn (2011), have proposed some theoretical models. Unfortunately, these models are not comprehensive nor inclusive of all variables in context of the unbanked, that integrate economic development and poverty eradication. Therefore, this study addressed this knowledge gap by attempting to provide a better understanding of the current trends of m-banking for the unbanked by examining the particular case of a selected unbanked populations in Kenya, and the role of mobile banking in uplifting their lives through wealth creation..
