Abstract:
The USIU-Africa Library will host the United Nations/University Librarians/World Bank Committee and the Kenya University Librarians Committee (KULC) meetings/workshops on 23-24 July 2015 at the Library’s Bookshop Room.
The UN/UL/WB Committee comprises of UN and World Bank Librarians and University Librarians who have formed a collaborative team to provide access to information, to share information resources, cooperate in capacity building and to keep abreast with new developments in the information management field through joint seminars and workshops.
The Kenya University Librarians Committee (KULC) was established in 1986 as a sub-committee of the Vice Chancellors Committee, with pioneer members being from public universities. The role of KULC at that time was to come up with ideas on resource sharing, networking and staff development.
The membership is currently made up of both public and private university libraries, constituent university colleges, Commission for University Education and Kenya National Library Services. This committee gave birth to the Kenya Library and Information Services Consortium (KLISC). The consortium was established in 2003 with the main objective of collective subscription to electronic resources to cope with the increasing cost of information resources.
