I n order to ach ieve t hese. the stud y focused on the fol lowing research quest ions: W hat are the va ri ous chal l enges faced by oi l compani es i n a dyna m i c econom i c envi ron ment? Wh i ch are t he va ri ous i n ternal and external organ izat ional capa bi l i t i es relevant i n a d ynam i c econom i c env i ron men t? What strategies are used by oi l com pa n ies to devel op sustai nable compet i t i ve adva n tage'?To ach i eve t h i s. t he stud y adopted a descri pt i ve stud y of L i bya Oi l Com pa n y i n K enya . The populat i on of stud y com pri sed of em ployees of L i bya Oi l Com pa n y i n K enya. Th e st ud y engaged 5 1 respond ents i nvol ved i n t he core busi ness of t he com pa n y and who \Vere ident i fied t h rou gh st rati fied sampl i ng. Data col l ect i on was cond ucted t h rou gh the use of quest ion na i res and ana lyzed t h rough descri pt ive stat i st i cs i n ord er to d raw concl usi ons. The collected data was fi rst coded stat i st i ca l l y and thereafter ana l yzed wi t h t he use of a stat ist ical package: SPSS i n percentages and freq uenci es. Therea fter t he resu lts were presented v i a graphs, charts. ta bl es as wel l as pi e charts. Looki ng at the stud y find i ngs i t was revea l ed that t he strategi es most l y used by oi l market ing compan ies in the Ken ya were domest ic strateg ies and m u l t i-domest ic strategies. The find ings on the strategic response by oi l ma rket ing compan ies to a dynam ic econom i c environ ment i n Ken ya revealed that focus market joi nt vent u res strategic a l l iances as wel l as corporate d iversi ficat ion stood out as the popular strategi es used by oi l ma rket i n g compan ies in a dynamic econom ic environment. The other strategies al t hou gh used by the oil market i n g companies, they arc not very popu lar. The find i ngs al so revealed that a combi nat ion of strategic all iances and joi nt ventu res was the best su itable strategic response techn iques i n a dynam ic econom ic environment i n Ken ya. I n l igh t of these find ings the study concl uded that majori t y of oi l market i n g com pan ies are ei ther regional or loca l l y owned. most of these com pa nies apply domest ic or m u lt i domest ic Strategies. It i s c lear from the research t hat globa l strategies are not su i table for the oi l market i n Ken ya. Sim i larl y i t can be concl uded that a combi nat ion of strategic a l l iances and joi nt vent ures was the best su itable i n a dyna m ic economic env i ron ment. The stud y t herefore recom mends t hat blend i n g of strategic response t hat are best su ited for t he ma rket dyna m ics and i n t he case th ree levels are recom mended: when going for strateg i c a l l iances. compan ies shoul d consi der combi n i ng this wi t h either joint vent ure i n operat ions as t h i s provides a platform for cost red uct ion due to econom ies of scale, wh i le when a compa n y is consideri ng corporate d i versi ficat i on. i t recom mended to combine t h is wi t h mergers and acq u isit ions as t h i s provide a faster and establ ished approach to market d i versi licat ion as compared to start ing from scratch. en_US
